John Melvin Duke, 92, of Clanton died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster. He was born on Saturday, August 18, 1923 in Chilton Co., AL, Son of the late Benjamin H. Duke and the late Savannah Vickers Duke. He was a commercial tire salesman. Surviving are his Son, John D. (Debra) Duke of Trussville, AL; Daughter, Jerilyn Wear of Clanton, AL; Grandchildren, Shaun Wear of Madison, AL, Mark Wear of Clanton, AL, Kelly Duke-Taylor of Birmingham, AL; Great-Grandchildren, Darren Wear, Dillon Wear, Hailey Wear, Katlyn Wear, Austin Wear, Kate Duke-Taylor; Numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his Wives, Jane Duke & Jacqueline Duke; Brothers, Lester Duke & Herbert Duke; Sister, Frances Duke. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, May 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Kent Dodson officiating.
