Larue Mcgee Smith

LaRue McGee Smith age 77 of Clanton passed away Saturday Oct.10, 2009. She was born Aug. 29, 1932 in Maplesville, AL to James Clinton and Lois Collins McGee. She attended Mt.Pleasant School and graduated from CCHS in 1950. She retired from Chilton-Clanton Public Library. She was a long time member, Sunday School Teacher and Librarian at Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church. Loving, caring Mom, Grandma and friend, known for her quiet spirit and wonderful cooking. She will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, friends and church family. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, John D. Smith, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Survived by daughter Cathy (Mike) Joiner, son Mike (Renee) Smith, son Mark (Allegra) Smith. Grandchildren, Christy Joiner, Taylor Smith, Amy Smith, Cameron Smith and Kip Willis. 1 sister Nell Watley of Clanton and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5-8, Monday, October 12, 2009 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Drinkwater officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery, Clanton, AL.
