L.C. Stanfield

Mr. L.C. Stanfield, of Billingsley, Alabama passed away quietly Saturday evening, November 25, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born on Tuesday, June 24, 1924 in Etowah Co., AL., Son of the late Clarence Russell Stanfield and the late Vera Beatrice Austin Stanfield. Mr. Stanfield was a combat veteran of WWII and served in the south pacific. Following the war, he taught vocational agriculture and was an assistant coach at Billingsley School from 1949 to 1963. He then moved to Alexander City, Alabama, where he opened a home and auto store. In 1972, he returned to Billingsley where he served as school principal until his retirement in 1983. He continued to live in Billingsley until 2017. In retirement he pursued his passion for fishing and camping. Following the death of his beloved wife, Jean, he devoted himself to the care of his disabled daughter Kathryn. Surviving are Daughters, Christine S. Burkett, Kathryn E. Stanfield; Son, Charles (Bonnie) Stanfield; Grandchildren, Lisa (Dale) Stroup, Rusty (Wendy) Burkett, Brian (Jenny) Burkett, Barbara (Tim) Will; 13 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister, Dorothy Garner. He was preceded in death by his Beloved Wife, Jean Stanfield, Parents, Clarence R. & Vera Stanfield, Brothers, Dan Stanfield, Jake Stanfield and Sister, Lois Bell. Friends and family will be invited to a remembrance of his life from 10-11 for visitation and 11:00 A.M. service with Rev. Doug Powell officiating Thursday, November 30, 2017 @ Martin Funeral Home. Graveside Services with military honors will be held Friday, December 1, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Attalla City Cemetery, Attalla, AL.
