Leighton Monroe Nelson

July 12, 1979 — September 28, 2023

Leighton Monroe Nelson of Clanton, Alabama, passed away September 28, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents Donnie Nelson and Ann Carden.

Leighton is survived by his wife Ginna Glaser Nelson and Delta; his uncle Barry Nelson (Tracey); “inherited dad” Sibley Reynolds (Rhonda), “inherited siblings” Mary Beth Wyatt and Mac Reynolds; Johnny Littleton (Debbie); brother Noah Nelson and sister Paige Green (Steve). He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law Pete and Nelda Glaser, brother-in-law Peter Glaser (Blythe); step-mother Donna Nelson; step-father Rick Carden. Everyone who met Leighton loved him, and Leighton sure did love them.

Leighton shared a beautiful love with his wife, Ginna and his faithful “Red Dog” Delta. His family and keeping those connections was always important to him and gave him great joy. Leighton never forgot the value of friendships and had so many true friends who he loved like family. He was energized by talking and visiting with people and making new friends along the way. He often referred to this as PR, although it was always genuine. Leighton will be remembered by his smile that would enter a room before he did.

Leighton was an outdoor enthusiast. Doing anything outside was his favorite, but his true love (after Ginna and Delta) was duck hunting. He acquired a love of duck hunting with his dad and that love never left him. Leighton always said it was in the duck blind that he felt the most connected to the Good Lord.

A Celebration of Leighton’s Life will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at Higgins Ferry Pavilion at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ducks Unlimited in Leighton’s honor.
