Leon Mack Downing

Leon "Mack" Downing, 78, of Clanton, Alabama passed away February 12, 2021 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born April 12, 1942 in Jemison, son of Thomas Wilton Downing and Essie M. "Polly" Scott Downing. Mack worked for many years as a house painter, then later worked as a delivery driver for a drug company. He was a loving father and grandfather, and a long time member of West End Baptist Church. He loved college football and was a big Alabama fan. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann Downing; Daughters, Allison (Cotton) Lawrence and Connie (Larry) Simpson; Son, Thomas Bentley Downing; Sisters, Linda (Tim) Haney and Sherri (Ben) Wright; Grandchildren, Tara Mims, Taylor Koh, Erica Parmer, David Lawrence, Dakota Downing and Dawson Waldrop,, and twelve Great-Grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to West End Building Fund. Martin Funeral Home directing.
