Linda Cox
Klinner
January 23, 1948 – May 5, 2026
Linda Cox Klinner, 78, of Maplesville, Alabama died Tuesday May 5, 2026. She was born in Clanton, Alabama January 23,1948, eldest child to the late Billy Samuel and Ollie Mae Cox.
Linda graduated from Chilton County High School in 1966 and went on to St Margaret's Nursing School in Montgomery, Alabama where she became a registered nurse.
In October of 1968, Linda married John T Klinner. From their very first date, she came home and told her sister she would marry him. After they married, they spent two years in Germany while John was serving as a captain in the U.S. Army in Heidelberg. Linda was a volunteer nurse, as wives of officers were not allowed to work. Linda and John returned to Clanton shortly after the birth of their first child and she resided there while John served in Vietnam. Upon his return, the family was moved to Auburn for John to complete his master's degree. While there, they welcomed their second child. Life took this family to Tuscaloosa and then returned to Clanton where John and Linda took over the family furniture stores. She retired from nursing and for the past 45 years she was full time in the furniture business and could be found on the showroom o f E.L.Klinner Furniture greeting customers.
A devout Christian, Linda knew at a young age her life belonged to Christ, and she served Him until He called her home. She served the Lord in the choir and teaching Sunday school to countless numbers. Linda's service was not only inside the walls of the church, but outside as she was always present for those in need of prayer, support, and a loving heart of compassion. Linda was an avid gardener, cook, and patron of the theatre with her best friend, Belva Johns. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality and always had an open door for everyone. However, her greatest joy in her life, in addition to her love for John, was the love and adoration for her two grandsons.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ollie Mae Cox; her parents-in-law, E.L. and Martha Klinner; and grandson, Matthew Henry Hamilton.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Klinner; daughter Shelley Klinner Hamilton and husband Douglas; grandsons J.D. and Miller Hamilton; son, Jeffrey Klinner; Aunts, Luci Sheffield and Norma Connell; siblings, Regena Huett, Rene Carter, Sammy Cox, Greg Cox and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
