Maggie Pearl Dennis was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 17, 1921 to Emmett and Nettie Pearl Dennis and died in Mobile, Alabama on June 5, 2023, at 101 years of age.
She married the love of her life, Excell Howard, in 1943. A lifelong resident of Verbena, Alabama, Pearl spent her final years in Mobile, to be near her family after her beloved husband died. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Excell Howard, her daughter Linda Williams and grandson Phillip Williams.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her daughter Carolyn Nelson (Tom) and son Wendell Howard (Kathy); grandchildren Cynthia Nelson, Andrea Lowry, Steven Nelson, Michael Williams, Matthew Howard and Casey Korb. In addition, she leaves 5 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Pearl was a committed member of the Verbena Methodist Church and loved her church and her community. She was known and loved for her hospitality and wonderful cooking. There was always something delicious ready for anyone who dropped by. She and Excell frequently welcomed family and friends, visiting ministers and missionaries from far and wide.
Pearl was a very gifted artist and used her first name “Maggie” to sign her beautiful prize-winning oil paintings.
Pearl is now with the Lord she loved and served, and the many family and friends who welcomed her Home. At her request, she will have a simple graveside service at Verbena Cemetery on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. All family and friends are invited to come.
