Marcelee D. Mayfield

January 14, 1931 — December 29, 2020

Marcelee, known as Marcee to her friends and family, was born January 14, 1931 at her family home in Isabella, AL to Oscar and Era (LeCroy) Davenport, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law, Willard Davenport and O. F. Davenport (Sara Traywick Davenport), her husband, Jack D. Mayfield, her beloved aunt, Lorene LeCroy, and her son-in-law, Mike Allbritton. She is survived by her children, David Mayfield (Jean Ann), Andrew Mayfield, and Marisa Allbritton, 10 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren, and host of extended family and friends. She served as a pastor’s wife for many years on several church fields in Shelby, Bibb, Tuscaloosa, Cullman, Morgan and Chilton counties. She was an asset to her husbands’ ministry, using her musical talents in every church, also leading children and youth ministries and teaching Sunday School. After he retired, they moved back to Isabella (to her family home) and she worked at Isabella School as a teacher’s aide, and a bus driver, serving in that capacity for many years. During this time, she served as pianist at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Later, she served as Music Director at Randolph Baptist Church then Mulberry Baptist Church. She loved music. She was an accomplished pianist and had a beautiful singing voice, once charming a bat through an open window as she sang “His Eye is On The Sparrow,” stopping church services while the deacons chased it with a broom. She loved to travel, as long as she could be home in time to sleep in her bed that night! She had a great sense of humor, and could laugh at herself, and we hope that you can laugh with us as we remember our mother. Friends will be received Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church. Services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Mims and Rev. David Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by many. Martin Funeral Home directing. You may leave online condolences for the family on the guest registry at www.martinfuneralhomeinc.com.
