Marilyn G. Popwell, 87, of Clanton, Alabama passed away September 4, 2023, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL.
She was born May 22, 1936, in Chilton County, Alabama, daughter of Stell Gilliland and Arah Maddox Gilliland.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the Lord and her family with her entire heart. Her proudest accomplishment was being called Mawmaw Popwell.
She made sure her home was filled with love and welcomed everyone with open arms.
Marilyn was a faithful member of Walnut Creek Church. She served her church family and community well.
Marilyn will be missed terribly, but her family is at peace knowing that she is at home with her Lord and Savior.
Surviving are her Son, Danny A. (Glenda) Popwell; Daughters, Charlotte (Edwin) Easterling, Christy (Ernest) Manning; Grandsons, Johnny Mims, Allen Popwell, Al Manning, Todd Manning; Granddaughters, Tina Corley, Kim Smith, Cindy Pierce, Julie Manning Craft; 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granchild; Sister, Carolyn Popwell, Viriginia Littlefield, Ann Sharpless; Brothers, Don Gilliland, Jerry Gilliland.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Stell Gilliland; Mother, Arah Gilliland; Husband, Walter Junior Popwell; Granddaughter, Wendy Popwell; Brother, Gene Gilliland; and Sister, Pam Gilliland Bush.
Friends will be received Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 5:00 pm until at Walnut Creek Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 pm. at Walnut Creek Church with Rev. Tony Hughes officiating.
Interment will follow in Walnut Creek Methodist Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
