Maude Wallace Hayes

Maude Wallace Hayes, 98, of Athens, GA passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Minnie Lee Harbuck Wallace. Maude was born in Dawson, Georgia and moved at an early age to Thorsby, Alabama. She married Lee Hayes in 1930 and lived in Thorsby until 2005 when she moved to Athens, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Hayes; two sisters, Maggie Maddox and Luda Mae Haggard, and one brother, David Wallace. She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca(Becky) Hayes Matheny; son-in-law, David Matheny of Athens, GA, and granddaughters, Leigh Ellen Matheny and Mary Catherine Matheny both of Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be held 2:30PM Sunday, June 17th at First Baptist Church in Thorsby, Alabama. Interment will follow at Pates Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30PM prior to the service at the church.
