MICHAEL RAY HARRIS

August 18, 1956 - December 31, 2022

Michael “Mike” Harris was called home by our Lord on December 31, 2022.  He was born to Margaret and Ray Harris in Jasper in 1956.  Three years later, they were joined by his younger brother, Steve, with whom he shared a very close bond.

Mike spent most of his life in Clanton, where he lived with his stepmother and his father, Dot and Ray Harris.  He was overjoyed when he was finally able to move into his own home in 2009. He celebrated each anniversary of his independence with a call to family members.

Mike adored his many nieces and their children and grandchildren.  He beamed with pride over their successes, and he was always excited to learn of their most recent accomplishments.  As great as his love for them was, nothing could compare to his love for Alabama football.  He was a true fan, and it was rare to catch Mike when he wasn’t dressed from head to toe in Alabama gear.

Mike was full of joy and laughter.  He was kind-hearted, generous, thoughtful and caring.  Although we hoped to have many more years with Mike, we have been richly blessed by our time with him, and we find great comfort in the knowledge that, because of his faith in Christ and the promise of Heaven, we will one day be reunited.

Mike is predeceased by his mother, Margaret Harris; father, Ray Harris; stepmother, Dot Harris; stepbrother, Ronnie Lockhart; and niece, Rhonda Lockhart.  He is survived by his loving and devoted brother, Steve (Lashelle) Harris; stepbrother, Danny (Virginia) Lockhart; stepsister, Sheila (Royce) Lambert; sister-in-law, Marsha Lockhart; nieces, Amber (Ryan) Cardwell, Monica (Hunter) Carroll, Misty (Jamie) Cleckler, Andrea (Russ) Hardwick, Elizabeth (Lynn) Jones, and Amanda Lockhart; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; special cousin, Charlie (Tiffany) Haye; and numerous beloved family members.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Vanderslice officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
