Elder Michael Lane "Mike" Smith, 63, of Verbena died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, April 15, 1952 in Clanton, AL, Son of the late Charlie Frank Smith and Katie Helen McNair Smith. He was Circuit Clerk. Surviving are his Wife, Peggy Jo Smith of Verbena, AL; Daughters, Julie Marie (Nathan) Emmerich of Verbena, AL, Amy Kathryn (Jason) Barnett of Thorsby, AL; Son, Michael Andrew (Jodie) Smith of Clanton, AL; Mother, Katie Helen Smith of Verbena, AL; Grandchildren, Lilly, Brody, & Brooks Barnett, Sara Kate & Carter Emmerich, Saydie, DonRylie, & Charlie Frank Smith; Sisters, Debbie (Billy) Ward of Verbena, AL, Kim (Keith) Moore of Verbena, AL; Brother, Frankie (Carol) Smith of Billingsley, AL; a host of nieces, nephews & other family. He was preceded in death by his Father, Charlie Frank Smith. Friends will be received from 5-7, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Louis Culver officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
