Murel McArthur Gothard, 74, of Jemison died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, July 25, 1942 in Alabama, Son of the late Virgil Gothard and the late Carrie Lovett Gothard. He was an equipment operator. Surviving are his Wife, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Gothard of Jemison, AL; Son, Mr. Ben Gothard of Jemison, AL; Daughters, Mrs. Juanita (Billy) Wyatt of Clanton, AL, Mrs. Penny Jones of Jemison, AL; Sister, Mrs. Carolyn (Curtis) Smith of Jemison, AL; Grandchildren, Amber Wyatt, Tonya (Andy) Scott; Great-Grandchildren, Ryan & Ty Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 grandchild. Friends will be received from 5-8, Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Services will be held Monday, October 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Boatwright, Rev. Billy Wyatt, Rev. Andy Scott and Rev. William Earl Short officiating.
