Nancy Van Ostrand was born October 7, 1927 in Miami, Florida to her parents Charles and Annie Gould. She died at age 94 in Wetumpka, Alabama on October 24, 2021. Growing up in Miami, she attended Little River Elementary and graduated from Edison High School in 1945. She was married to her first husband, John R. Hill, for 15 years. She and her second husband, Harold Van Ostrand, retired to Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where they were very active in First Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels, and Eastern Star for over 20 years. With declining health they relocated near family in Frostproof, Florida where they attended First Baptist of Frostproof. For her final years she lived on the family farm in Jemison, Alabama and attended Montevallo First Baptist Church. Nancy deeply loved her family and friends. She had a strong faith and a clear belief in Jesus as her Savior and Lord. She loved singing in her church choir and sharing her famous apple butter, rolls and pecan pie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Van Ostrand. She is survived by her children Linda Hill Clark (Charles Clark), John J. Hill (Debra Hill), Carol Hill McGinnis (Robert McGinnis), Rev. Joseph R. Hill (Pam Hill), Linda Van Ostrand Upchurch (John Upchurch), Duane Van Ostrand, 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the loving care provided by the Gardens of Wetumpka Assisted Living facility, Elmore Community Hospital and Ivy Creek Hospice Care. A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton, Alabama with graveside service to follow on November 13th at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Georgia.
