Paul Wayne Davis, Jr., 64, of Thorsby, Alabama passed away on January 15, 2025, at Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster, Alabama, and was the son of Paul Wayne Davis, Sr. and Ressie Lester Tankersley.
He served his country in the United States Air Force, Staff Sergeant, for 6 years, shortly thereafter served in the United States Air Force Reserve, and retired as a U.S. Postal Service employee after more than 25 years of federal service. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Theresa, at the young age of 18 in 1978, and remained a devoted husband for going on 47 years, until he was called home to be with Jesus. He was a beloved dad to his son and daughter, and the best Paw Paw ever to his four grandchildren, as well as the best son and brother anyone could ask for.
Paul served in the United States Air Force, in the 729th Tactical unit until it disbanded, and then went to the JCSE (Joint Communications Support Element) 2048th Communications Squadron ( AFCC), assigned to JAAA/CP, “Jackpot” as an Auto Digital Switching Specialist (2 years) and a Telecommunications Operations Specialist (2 years 6 months), then extension of service was at the request and for the convenience of the government. He received the Air Force Training Ribbon, Joint Service Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster & Air Force Commendation Medal. Paul was then assigned to Maxwell Air Force Base, United States Air Force Reserve, 908 Communication Squadron. Paul served as a Secure Communications Technician. He was a recipient of the US Air Force Meritorious Service Award. He received several awards of recognition for his years stellar and unwavering service to his country. Paul’s service allowed him to travel across the world to integrate and work side by side with the United States allied forces, while being deployed with the Joint Airborne Communications Squadron. Paul’s career was exemplary and distinguishable, because of his dedication to country and duty.
Paul enjoyed music of all genres, and played in the Kendrick High School’s Marching Band and Jazz Band in Columbus, Georgia. Over the decades, Paul enjoyed attending concerts of all genres of music. He was truly a music enthusiast.
Paul enjoyed studying and discussing the Bible, and was vocal concerning his love and support for the country of Israel. He was quite knowledgeable in all aspects of history.

Surviving are his Wife, Theresa Davis; Parents, Paul Wayne Davis, Sr. and Ressie Lester Tankersley; Daughter, Amy Davis; Son, Jeffrey (Bailey) Davis; Granddaughters, Scarlett Davis, and Lily Davis; Grandsons, Jeffrey Landon Davis, and Charlie Davis; Brother, Lester (Julie) Davis; Sister, Leslie (Richard) Dennis; Brothers, Marty Tankersley, and Jason Tankersley; Granddaughter, Desiree Senn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Brother, David Horn; Sister, Melody Tankersley; Step-Father, Garlan Tankersley, and Step-Mother, Jane Davis.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 12:00 P.M to 1:00 P.M at Lomax Assembly of God in Clanton, Alabama.
Services will be held on , January 18, 2025, at 1:00 P.M at Lomax Assembly of God in Clanton, Alabama with officiating Pastor Erron Price officiating.
Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
