Polly Downing

Essie Mae "Polly" Downing, 94, of Clanton died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Vincent's East, Birmingham. She was born on Wednesday, October 3, 1923 in Chilton Co., AL, Daughter of the late Aaron Scott and the late Minnie Smith Scott. She attended school in Jemison, AL and married Thomas Wilton Downing in 1941. Mrs. Polly worked at Wright's Drug Store and the Center for Aging. She loved her family, friends, and church West End Baptist. Surviving are Son, Mack (Ann) Downing of Clanton, AL; Daughters, Linda (Tim) Haney of Columbiana, AL, Sherri (Ben) Wright of Clanton, AL. 5 Grandchildren, 6 Great- Grandchildren, A Number of Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Thomas Wilton Downing. Friends will be received from 10-11, Saturday, March 3, 2018 @ West End Baptist Church. Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Lightsey and Rev. James Watkins officiating.
