After a courageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer, Ponda Cobb passed away
surrounded by her loving family. She was small but mighty—her strength, grace, and faith
inspired everyone blessed to know her.
Ponda was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 36 years, Larry Cobb, and a deeply
supportive and nurturing mother to their beloved daughters, Taylor Glass (Alex) and Erin
Cobb. She took immense pride in her home and in caring for her family, always staying busy
and finding joy in creating a warm, welcoming place filled with love.
She was a proud and doting Nonnie to her precious granddaughters Laken, Logan, and
Blake, who were the light of her life. Ponda especially loved spending time with her
grandbabies—whether swimming together at home, taking them to the park, or even making a quick trip to Walmart for a surprise treat. She loved surprising the girls by picking them up
from school and seeing the excitement on their faces when they spotted her. One of her
favorite things was following them all the way down the driveway as they left, waving goodbye
and calling out, “Nonnie loves you!” She was determined to make the family trip to Disney
World to create special memories with her grandbabies and daughters, and she absolutely
cherished every moment of that trip.
She is also survived by her father Ed Hamilton (Willean), brother Roger Woodward (Cindy),
sisters Suzanne Burke (Michael) and Tammy Gray, step-sister Christy Waddell (Joe),
mother-in-law Donna Lloyd (Vic), and bonus mother-in-law Donna Johnson (Kenny)— who
faithfully attended every chemo treatment and doctor’s appointment beside her. Ponda
shared an especially close bond with her sister-in-law and best friend Stacy Payton (Scott)
and was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Webster, whose memory she cherished
deeply.
To know Ponda—and to be loved by her—was a great honor and blessing. Her positive
attitude, radiant smile, and unwavering faith brightened every room she entered. She touched
countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and ability to make everyone feel seen and
loved.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their many friends—some known
only through messages of kindness and prayer—their extended family, and their Coca-Cola
family. Special thanks are given to Dr. Jones and the staff at Grandview Oncology,
Southern New Beacon Hospice, and to Greg and Pam Deavers and Randy and Robin
Yeargan for their love and support throughout Ponda’s journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ponda’s honor to
PurplePansies.org, an organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer.
Ponda’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her
