Renee Moates Smith, 62, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away July 20, 2026.

She was born July 23, 1963, in Alabama, daughter of the late Monroe Moates and the late Glenda Payton.

Renee was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great friend to all; intentional, caring, empathetic, Godly woman. She was a Medical Technologist for most of her career.

Surviving are her Husband, Michael D. Smith; Son, Taylor Monroe (Rebecca) Smith; Daughter, Amy LaRue (Matthew) Smith Gibson; Grandchildren, Jackson Monroe Smith, Kennedy Elise Smith, Lily LaRue Smith; Mother, Wanda Moates; Brothers, Mike Moates, Ronald Peppers.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Monroe Moates; Mother, Glenda Payton.

Friends will be received Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lenoir.

Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
