Richard W. Harrison, of Stanton, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at his home. He was born on Monday, November 11, 1946 in Dallas Co., AL, son of the late O. V. Harrison and the late Margie Bearden Harrison. He graduated from Maplesville High School in 1965. He earned degrees from Alabama College, Livingston University and University of Alabama. Richard was employed by the Dallas County Board of Education and Chilton County Board of Education. He served as minister of music for many Baptist churches. Richard served his community and county for many years. He was Chairman of the Board for the Chilton County Assistance Center, United Way, Lions Club and carried the Olympic torch as a "Community Hero" in 1996. Surviving are his wife, Laura H. Harrison of Stanton, AL; daughter, Sharon (Chad) Earl of Millbrook, AL; sons, Noel (Amanda) Harrison of Calera, AL, Hal (Chrissy) Harrison of Maplesville, AL; sister, Evie Jo (Dale) Greene of Maplesville, AL; brother-in-law, Emmett (Mary Clyde) Huff of Clanton, AL; 5 grandchildren, Crimson Harrison, Tyde Harrison, Will Harrison, Brennan Harrison, Karley Earl. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, Stanton, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Cemetery, P.O. Box 56 Stanton, AL 36790.
