Robert C. Rev. Edge, Jr.

Rev. Robert Chester Edge, Jr., 79, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center, Birmingham. He was born on Sunday, May 26, 1935 in Montgomery, Alabama, Son of the late Robert C. Edge, Sr. and the late Lucille Hasty Edge. He graduated from Howard College, Birmingham, in 1957 and went on to receive his divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1960. Reverend Edge pastored many churches during his career, including Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Uriah, AL; where he met his wife Sue; Cebahatchee Baptist Church, Shorter, AL; First Baptist Church, Beatrice; First Baptist Church, Maplesville; First Baptist Church, Lafayette; South Lawn Baptist Church; First Baptist Church, Thorsby; and Berney Points Baptist, Birmingham, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. Surviving are his Sons, Mr. Marc (Becky) Edge of Brewton, AL, Mr. Bryan (Cassandra) Edge of Jemison, AL, Mr. Jonathan (Amelia) Edge of Calera, AL, Mr. Chris (Jennifer) Edge of Montevallo, AL; 11 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Mrs. Martha (Henry) Durham, Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Mrs. Sue Lambert Edge. Friends will be received from 5-7, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Thorsby First Baptist Church. Services will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Thorsby First Baptist Church, Thorsby, AL., with Rev. Marc Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Gardens, Thorsby, AL. Martin Funeral Home directing.
