Mrs. Rubye Thomas Jones, age 96, of Clanton, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, July 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Rubye was born June 27, 1924, in Bibb County, Alabama, daughter of the late F.J. and Cora Silas Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herman C. Jones, and two brothers, Norman Thomas and Silas Thomas. Rubye was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for 88 years. Always very active, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and attending church. She was a strong, determined, and independent woman with a quiet spirit who demonstrated kindness and wisdom in the way she lived her life. Rubye loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Rubye is survived by her son, Ronnie Jones (Ester) of Clanton; granddaughter, Heather Cummings (Kevin) of Opelika; grandson, Brian Jones (Megan) of Clanton; and great-grandsons, Jake Cummings, John Conner Cummings, Ben Jones, and Cam Jones. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8 Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Martin Funeral Home followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Rev. Donnie Burns and Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Verbena, Alabama. Martin Funeral Home directing.
