Russell "Russ" Dwaine Bryan

Russell "Russ" Dwaine Bryan, 60, of Thorsby, Alabama passed away February 12, 2025, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

He was born June 18, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama, son of the late LaVaun Bryan and the late Peggy Bryan.

Russ was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.    He left an amazing legacy in Chilton County.  In 1991, he began working at Jemison High School.   In 1997, he became Head Football Coach at Thorsby High School, Assistant Principal in 1998, and Principal in 2000.   He retired from that position until January 1, 2017.  Russ then went to work with ALFA Insurance and became of the most successful agents in the district, being recognized as one of the top 10 standing agents consistently and received several awards and recognitions, until he retired in 2024.

Russ received multiple commendations for Physical Education including becoming a Demonstration Center for the President's Council on Physical Fitness, administrative commendations for Excellence in School Safety, overseeing construction of the current Thorsby High School baseball facility named in his honor.  He also received recognition from the University of Montevallo as a Distinguished Graduate, and the award for Outstanding Alumni from the University of Montevallo at Homecoming in 2005.

Surviving are his Wife, Andrea Bryan; Children, Parker and Evan, Jay & Adrianna; Granddaughter, Elise Jill Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Wendy Bryan, Father, LaVaun Bryan, Mother, Peggy Bryan, Sister, Cindy Wyatt.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Christian Life Center.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Christian Life Center with Rev. Jason Green officiating.

Private Interment will be in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery, Thorsby, Alabama.
