Frances Collins Jones, 95, of Auburn, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2026.
She was born on April 18, 1930, in Clanton, Alabama, the daughter of the late James Dudley Collins and Sara Bell Collins.
Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who loved her family deeply. Above all else, the defining center of her life was her relationship with Jesus Christ. She and her beloved husband, Ray, built their marriage and family on a shared faith, faithfully living out their love for Christ each day. She graduated from Chilton County High School and soon after married Ray—the love of her life—beginning a lifelong journey together marked by devotion, faith, and joy.
Frances found delight in life’s simple pleasures. She loved jewelry, gardening, watching game shows, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and playing games with family and friends. Every Valentine’s Day, Ray made sure she received roses, a tradition she treasured deeply. She enjoyed singing, traveling, and eagerly embracing any adventure that came her way. Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Frances had a remarkable gift for making others laugh. She truly lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Simpkins; sons, Gregory Ray (Kathy) Jones and James Alan (Lisa) Jones; grandchildren, Jeremy (Shelley) Simpkins, Jayla (Cliff) Simpkins Hill, Tara (Barry) Baker, Gina (Jonathan) Green, Spencer (Adele) Jones, Denver Jones, and Chandler (Ashlyn) Jones; and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ray Jones; her parents, James Dudley Collins and Sara Bell Collins; and her brother, James Dudley Collins III (Jimmy).
