McCarty, Thomas William, born Sept 25th, 1942, died Mar 28th, 2010, after an extended illness. A resident of Clanton, AL, and formerly a long-time resident of Hueytown, AL, Mr. McCarty was originally from Birmingham. He was a graduate of Jones Valley High School, attended Howard College, and retired from J C Penny department store, and Ernest McCarty Ford. He was a member of Hueytown Baptist Church, a Mason and a Shriner, and an enthusiastic fan of Nascar and Alabama football. Tom was kind, loving, and generous. Mr. McCarty was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Lee McCarty, Sr., and Irene Shaw McCarty. Survivors include wife, Ann Till McCarty, of Clanton, daughter Dora Jo "Dodie" Lewis (Michael), of Hoover, and her children Amanda "Mandy" Gibbs (Kourey), and Matthew Lewis; stepdaughter Annette Carter and her son Shane Sammons, and her grandsons Christian and Joseph Sammons; stepson David Till; sisters Joyce McCarty Kirkley, of Guntersville, AL, Thelma McCarty O'Quinn (G. Brown), of Chesterfield, VA, and brother Ernest L. McCarty, Jr. (Edna), of Vestavia Hills, AL. Family and friends invited to vistiation Thursday, April 1st, from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, AL Highway 22 (1300 4th Ave. North), Clanton, with a memorial service on Friday, April 2nd at 11:00AM at the chapel, Rev. G. Brown O'Quinn officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Zamora Shrine Temple, Childrens' Hospital Fund.
