Vanessa Dare Thigpen, 59, of Birmingham died Thursday, July 16, 2015. She was born on Sunday, September 25, 1955 in Jefferson Co., AL, Daughter of Elliott Van Note Thigpen and Ruby Hayes Thigpen. She was a retired Guidance Counselor with Jefferson County Board of Education. Surviving are Mother, Ruby H. Thigpen of Clanton, AL; 2 Brothers, James E. "Jet" (Cindy) Thigpen of Elberta, AL; Jody Hayes (Donna) Thigpen of Pensacola, FL; 3 Nephews, Van Thigpen, Scott & Stephen Stokes and Niece, Elizabeth Thigpen. She was preceded in death by her Father, Elliott V. "Butch" Thigpen and her Sister, Vicki M. Stokes. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 10 - 11 am with Memorial Services following at 11:00 am. Rev. Gerald Wayne Murphy will officiate.
