Virginia H. Patterson

December 17, 1924 - November 10, 2016 Virginia Houlditch Patterson passed away November 10, 2016 at age 91. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel Patterson, parents, Willie and Lucille Houlditch sister, Patty Sims and brother Ralph Houlditch. She is survived by her sister, Billie Pigford of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, brother, Jim Houlditch of Dallas Texas; two daughters, Rhonda Sharman of Pelham, Alabama and Jennifer Ray (Mark) of Wilsonville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Sam Sharman (Mary), Ginger Sharman, Marcie Dickerson (Brad) and Zach Ray (Chantelle); five great grand children, Nancy Kay, Josh and Alex Sharman and Owen and Evan Dickerson and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Dallas County High School and worked for Western Union and the Stock Exchange. After marriage, she and Sam lived in Clanton and raised their daughters. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Clanton, a member of the General Sumpter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an avid football fan of the University of Alabama where she attended many national championship games. The graveside service will be Monday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205. Martin Funeral Home directing
