He was born on Sunday, January 13, 1924 in Chilton Co., AL, Son of the late Monroe Nelson and the late Lola Johnson Nelson. He was a retired Airplane Technician at Hayes International in Birmingham, AL. Surviving are his Wife of 63 years, Carol Pounds Nelson of Clanton, AL; 2 Sons, Rodney (Lynn) Nelson of Corpus Christi, TX, Dale (Shirley) Nelson of Gulf Shores, AL; Daughter, Frieda (Wendell) Parrish of Clanton, AL; 6 Grandchildren, Greg (Misty) Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Kenton Nelson, Keelan (Sunni) Parrish, Kaleena (Christopher) Johnson, Kyle Parrish; 3 Great-Grandchildren, Abigail Sanchez, Jodi Parrish, Dallas Johnson; Sister, Dorothy Dean (Cary) Wood; 2 Brothers, Gene (Dorothy) Nelson, Wayne (Jean) Nelson. He was preceded in death by his 4 Brothers, Earlston Nelson; M.O. Nelson; Lamar Nelson; Kenneth Nelson 2 Sisters, Infant Marie Nelson and Nell Thomas. Friends will be received from 6-8, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11:00 A.M.. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jack Andrews, Minister Bob Terrell and Minister Barry Elliott officiating.
